Artist Statement: This ceramic teapot exemplifies the functionality of a circle. This teapot has multiple circular elements, like the body, spout, lid and the bamboo handle. Teapots originated in China over 600 years ago and spread all over the world with their style evolving and expanding, but one thing that didn’t change was the use of the circle and the rounded shape. This piece is just one example of the multitude of practical uses for the circle and opens up the doors to think about how many other things in our lives we use everyday that contain this shape.
