Currently, The Illuminati—the Regionals’ creative writing student organization—and the EGS 340 Internship program are hosting a book drive.
They’re accepting books of all genres as long as they’re only gently used, and will be taking donations until December 3rd. For Regionals students on the Hamilton campus, donations can be dropped off outside of Rentschler 246, and for Middletown students, they’re to be brought to the campus library.
Following the book drive, an Open Mic and Book event will be held at Schwarm Hall Commons at Hamilton’s campus on December 3rd from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. There, attending students can expect to enjoy free pizza and refreshments as well as books, collected through the book drive, and bookmarks to take home with them over the holiday break. During this event, winners of The Illuminati’s annual Fall Writing & Art Competition, and the Eye Candy Contest, will be announced, along with live readings from Regional students sharing their original short stories and poetry.
For any Regionals’ staff or student with old books collecting dust on their shelves, consider donating them to help brighten someone else’s holiday season, by providing them with a means of entertainment or academic enrichment over break.
And, for those interested in attending the Open Mic and Book event this Wednesday to reap the benefits of the book drive and enjoy live readings with refreshments, feel free to fill out the Google form to RSVP, which can be found via student email in any of the several messages sent regarding it.
