The Winners of the Halloween Costume Contest

By Brandon Fletcher —

On a chillingly frightening Halloween day of October 31, 2023, students were given the opportunity to have some fall fun for free in Rentschler Hall by coloring pumpkins and having apple cider. On the same day, a costume contest was held by faculty at Wilks. I talked to Interim Director of E-Campus, Erica Crawford, who organized the event, to get her thoughts about the events on campus. Erica said, “These events are really important to build a sense of community–getting people out of their offices to talk to each other. I like seeing how creative people can be with their cool costumes. There is a group costume of pirates which is cool and a group of Disney princesses which is also really cool.”

Attendees of the event were tasked with casting their vote to pick the best costume. The voting was divided into categories of scariest, funniest, best homemade costume, and best group. The winners are listed below:

Scariest – Tina Ridley as a Corporate Zombie/Biohazard

Funniest – Erica Crawford as Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus

Best Homemade Costume – Debbie Fackey as Cinderella

Best Group – Amy Francko, Debbie Fackey, Emily Hughes, and Janelle Duncan as Disney Princesses
