A.J. Olszewski

Dr. Olszewski is a speech-language pathologist with previous experience working in schools. His research focuses on developing feasible, evidence-based language and literacy interventions for young children. Specifically, he has contributed to the development and evaluation of interventions for phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, vocabulary, and syntax. His interventions involve parents, teachers, special educators, and speech-language pathologists. He also is interested in identifying potential barriers to literacy acquisition in young children. To this end, he uses observational approaches, cross-sectional designs, and eye tracking to measure children’s acquisition of key early literacy skills.

Dr. Olszewski earned a B.S. in Psychology and Speech and Hearing Sciences from The Ohio State University. He earned a M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University. He earned a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of South Florida and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. He has experience working on projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Miami University. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with his husband, Brandon, and their dogs- Toby and Ollie.

Victoria is a current second year graduate student at Miami University pursuing a degree in Speech-Language Pathology (M.A.). She graduated from Miami University in May 2023 with a B.S. in Speech Pathology & Audiology and a B.A./M.A. in Spanish, along with 3 minors: French, Lusophone Studies (Portuguese), and Latin American Latino/a and Caribbean Studies. Victoria has interned at Casa Speech, a bilingual speech-language pathology clinic in Columbus. Additionally, she has volunteered abroad at a speech therapy clinic and at a local school for children with disabilities in Belize. Victoria aspires to become a bilingual speech-language pathologist serving underrepresented populations, nationally and globally. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, learning languages, cooking, staying active, watching movies, and listening to music.

Maria is a first-year graduate student at Miami University’s Speech Pathology graduate program. She graduated from The Ohio State University in May of 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences as well as a minor in Spanish. Maria’s professional interests include working with spanish-speaking children as well as language development and articulation and phonological disorders. Outside of academics, Maria enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and watching the Buckeyes play football.

Emma is a senior undergraduate student majoring in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Hamilton, Ohio. She is also pursuing a minor in Disability Studies and has an interest in pediatric audiology. Her passion for audiology comes from her belief that access to sound enhances communication and connection. She plans to graduate from Miami University in 2025 and pursue her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree.

Cait is a senior undergraduate student from Cincinnati, OH majoring in Speech Pathology & Audiology and Biology. Her interest in speech pathology comes from a love of science and healthcare, as well as a passion for education and direct patient experience. Although Cait is still exploring her professional interests, she is most interested in working in a pediatric clinical setting. She plans to graduate from Miami University in 2025 and pursue a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Hannah Giltinan is an undergraduate student at Miami University. She is studying Speech Pathology & Audiology as well as Disability Studies. Hannah has a passion for helping children achieve their goals and aspires to work as an Audiologist in the future. She resides in Avon, OH with her parents, and younger brother Luke. Hannah attended Avon High School and graduated with honors. At Miami, she is a member of a variety of clubs and organizations. Some of these include the Phi Mu Beta Eta chapter, American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Club, National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association, Circle K International, and Best Buddies. She has experience in both the clinical and classroom settings and has worked with a variety of ages.

Claire is a senior undergraduate student majoring in Speech Pathology & Audiology from Columbus, Ohio. She plans to pursue a minor in neuroscience as well. While Claire is still exploring her professional interests, she has always loved working with children. Children have a unique way of expressing their ideas and feelings through verbal and nonverbal means. Her interest in speech pathology stems from communication being our most humane and vital characteristic. She plans to graduate from Miami University in 2025 and pursue her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Her passion for speech pathology comes from the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Lauren plans to graduate from Miami University in 2025 and pursue her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
