You probably noticed a few of our co-workers dressed in traditional garb yesterday. This week marks the 2017 celebration of Diwali. Since IT Services is one of the most diverse groups on campus, I wanted to take a minute to celebrate our co-workers!
Diwali (or Deepawali) is the Hindu festival of lights. It’s celebrated every year in the fall over a period of five days. The literal meaning of Diwali is “row of lights” or “row of lighted lamps.” This symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. During the celebration, families light lamps and candles inside and outside their homes, make delicious foods, and share meals with friends.
