Members of the Accountancy Advisory Group (AAG) gathered on October 26 and 27 to discuss updates on the department’s curriculum and outreach efforts, and to brainstorm strategies to meet the increasing demand for accountants.

Farmer School of Business Dean Jenny Darroch, Associate Dean Drew Reffett, and Associate VP for Development/External Relations Kirk Bogard were present to give updates from the Dean’s office at the beginning of the working session. This was followed by an enrollment update from Interim Department Chair Annie Farrell, who also provided a profile of our 2023 accountancy graduates (PDF).

Kyle Bickhart, COO of the Ohio Society of CPSs, joined with a discussion on national and statewide accountancy pipeline initiatives. This topic was further explored in a session led by Student Recruitment Committee Chair Dan Heitger. External Engagement Committee Chair Jon Pyzoha was present to provide updates on the department’s marketing and social media efforts. Women in Accounting President Madi Anderson also joined in to provide updates on the organization’s new initiatives.

The afternoon session was led by Educational Experience Committee Chair Michele Frank, who provided updates and facilitated brainstorming on the curriculum. Development and fundraising ideas were also discussed before the meeting wrapped up. The AAG will meet again in the Spring of 2024.
