Miami Alumni Speak about Accounting Careers in ACC 222

This semester, several Miami alumni came back to Miami to speak to Professor Eric Marinich’s students in ACC 222 (Introduction to Managerial Accounting). Dan Perschke (above photo) spoke about the many great opportunities the accounting profession has to offer, as well as insights into careers at The E.W. Scripps Company.

Craig Glazier ’01, a partner at EY, spoke with students about the Department of Accountancy’s new Climate Accounting and Engineering minor. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and climate accounting is an important new area of expertise for young professionals entering the workforce. Our new minor is among the first of its kind in US business schools, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to organizations in the ESG area.

Chris Connell ’05, Angela Ives ’95, and Zachariah Adams from Parker Hannifin, a manufacturing company based near Cleveland, Ohio, spoke about what a great place Parker Hannifin is to build a successful career and how important accounting is to organizations like Parker. Chris is the VP group controller; Angela is VP corporate controller; and Zachariah is financial manager of the Engineered Materials Group and directs the Accounting Leadership Development Program at Parker.
