Chocolate Meltdown: Deadline Extension

Calling all chocolate lovers! Winter vacation can seem like it lasts forever, and when it’s cold outside, everyone gets a little gloomy. What better way to “take a break from break” than visiting Chocolate Meltdown, a biennial event co-sponsored by the Miami University Art Museum and the Oxford Community Arts Center. On Saturday, January 18, come visit the OCAC for this delicious event, there’s something for everyone!

This event features vendors (including Graeter’s Ice Cream!) with chocolate delicacies for tasting, an amateur baking contest, children’s activities, silent sweets auction, educational materials about chocolate and an art exhibit. When you purchase your ticket, you receive 5 tasting coupons for you to use. Fun for all ages, and children 12 & under are admitted free!

Do you have a passion for baking? Enter in the bake-off contest “Melt Your Heart” for a chance to win prizes! First and second place will receive $75 & $50, so even if you don’t consider yourself to be a professional, why not take a chance? Creations can be anything chocolate: pies, cakes, desserts, cupcakes, candy, cookies, and more.

If you are an artist, this is an opportunity to have your work displayed in the Oxford Community Arts Center as part of their Chocolate Meltdown exhibit, opening January 18 and runs through March 6. Works do not have to be made out of chocolate, so let your creativity shine and show how chocolate inspires you! To submit a work of art or register for the bake-off, fill out an entry form at www.chocolatemeltdown.com, the NEW deadline to enter is January 1.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on our website for $8.34 (including service fee) or for $7 pre-sale at the museum and arts center. If you forget to purchase ahead of time, no worries, they will be $10 at the door.
