Distributed Taxi

Track 1, 5:30 PM

CLIENT: Dr. Vaskar Raychoudhury
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The current system of Taxicab integration across large city infrastructure usually involves a great deal of inefficiencies. Across the board, there are shortcomings in taxi drive times, passenger routing, and traffic. This results in higher pricing and longer wait times for the customer and stalls for taxi drivers looking to maximize their pickups and deliveries.
PROJECT PURPOSE:
Our project is research-oriented. We are going to attempt to find an algorithmic approach to minimize travel times for customers and map a distributed solution based on our findings. This solution will allow taxi selection based on proximity and a set of predetermined criteria established before any rides take place.
