Later, I went to Scotland for my post-graduation in Biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh with Commonwealth Scholarship. I have a research interest in molecular genetics and genomics of crop plants. I am doing my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Zhao at Miami University and my research is primarily focused on understanding the genomic and epigenomic features controlling meiotic recombination in maize through bioinformatics analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Beibei Liu<\/strong>, Ph.D. student, CMSB, 2020-present<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/zhao-genetics-genomics-lab\/files\/2020\/03\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-257\" width=\"205\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/zhao-genetics-genomics-lab\/files\/2020\/03\/image.png 811w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/zhao-genetics-genomics-lab\/files\/2020\/03\/image-300x287.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/zhao-genetics-genomics-lab\/files\/2020\/03\/image-768x734.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 205px) 100vw, 205px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I got a bachelor degree from Shaanxi Normal University in 2014, majored in Biotechnology. After that, I went to Saint Mary\u2019s University (Canada) to further my study in Dr. Genlou Sun\u2019s Lab and, in 2017, I got a Master degree in Applied Science. Now, as a PhD Student in Dr. Zhao\u2019s Lab, I mainly focus on investigating the initiation and maintenance of epigenetic silencing in maize. I am a member of the Honors program, and am involved in many organizations on campus such as MEDLIFE, Miami M.E.D, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
