Alumnae Weekend Parade of Classes

Alumnae/i Weekend 2023, June 9-11
Community members and alumnae/i enjoyed a special gathering in Clawson Hall on Saturday, June 10, complete with a Southern BBQ buffet and mint juleps. Special guest speakers, President Greg Crawford, Ambassador Renate Crawford, Vice President Emerita Bob Keller, and Former Oxford Mayor Dick Keebler (son of Western’s beloved Will Keebler), were introduced by WCAA Board President Ann Walton. All shared recollections, their fondness for Western and appreciation of the WCAA’s partnership with the campus and Oxford communities. On Saturday evening, class of 1973 members were honored at the banquet and inducted into the Meily Society with a quick demonstration of the “Meily wave.” Following the banquet, attendees lounged and enjoyed music in the Western Piano Bar located in Young Hall. Sunday morning, Lyn Miller Neely ’73 spoke about her current career in NeuroMovement, Judy Dudman Henderson ’62 served as presider and Loretta Ryder ’63 directed our amazing Western Choir. Alumnae/i Weekend 2021, June 11-12
Western was a special place providing education and life experiences in a lovely environment.  One of the fundamental principles of our education was international understanding. Westerners Worldwide focused on our international emphasis and included interviews with some of our international students during the decades of the ’50’s, ’60’s and ’70’s from all parts of the world. Alumnae/i were able to spend time with classmates and others who shared the Western experience. Each session was open to anyone so friends from different classes could join in the meeting. Some of the sessions were recorded and may be viewed online: Annual Meeting, International Student Interviews Part I, International Student Interviews Part II, and Closing Program.
