U.S. Propaganda &amp; the Arts of WWI<\/span><br \/>\nMCKIE AND FARMER GALLERIES<br \/>\nThis centennial commemoration of U.S. entry into WWI (1917\u20131918) documents the propaganda techniques utilized by federal, state and local governments to create united support by all Americans for entry into the European conflict. Propaganda in the form of newspapers, pamphlets, public addresses, newsreels and films, posters, artwork, and music contributed to the public\u2019s understanding of their involvement in the war. Highlights of this exhibition include J.M. Flagg\u2019s iconic poster of Uncle Sam, I Want You<br \/>\nfor U.S. Army, and song sheet art by Norman Rockwell.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65\" style=\"width: 223px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-65 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/visualarts\/files\/2016\/12\/uncle-sam-223x300.jpg\" alt=\"uncle-sam\" width=\"223\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/visualarts\/files\/2016\/12\/uncle-sam-223x300.jpg 223w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/visualarts\/files\/2016\/12\/uncle-sam-768x1032.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/visualarts\/files\/2016\/12\/uncle-sam-762x1024.jpg 762w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/visualarts\/files\/2016\/12\/uncle-sam.jpg 1271w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Spring 2017 slate of exhibitions are collectively curated in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of U.S. entry into World War I<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"color: #283777\">Arts of the WWI Era (Art History Capstone Exhibition)<\/span><br \/>\nDOUGLASS GALLERY<br \/>\nUnder the guidance of Professor Pepper Stetler (Art History) and Art Museum staff, senior Art History majors in the Fall 2016 capstone class will curate an exhibition of artworks from the World War I era. The capstone students will select the works, contextualize relationships, and present a study of individual artist\u2019s personal and collective feelings surrounding the Great War.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #283777\">Conflict and Resolution: A Student Response Exhibition<\/span><br \/>\nFARMER GALLERY | DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: OCTOBER 16<br \/>\nMiami University students have the opportunity to display original works of art in this fourth annual juried exhibition. Students are called upon to present diverse commentaries on the topic of military conflict and resolution. Not restricted to World War I, students are given the freedom to reflect on personal and collective perceptions of what it means to be at war and the search for peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>&nbsp; Over Here, Over Here!
