Our research focuses on finding the most efficient fertilizer with the least environmental impact while still producing a high crop yield that incorporates the field of agriculture, environmental studies and business. We conducted our research by searching for information within published work. We used websites like the Web of Science and Google Scholar to find data that applied to our topic. Within these websites, keywords and filters were used to find specific data that applied, focusing on more recent published materials. The research question asked is what is the best alternative to nitrogen fertilizer? Our research is focused on finding the most efficient fertilizer with the least environmental impact while being economical minded. Due to an increase in population, food demands are increasing. More nitrogen fertilizer is being used every year creating a harmful environmental impact. Researching an alternative to nitrogen fertilizer will protect the environment and grow the economy. Based on the research, there are viable alternatives to nitrogen fertilizer. One is a mix of biofertilizers and nitrogen. Biofertilizers are organic microorganisms that help plant growth. This combination is better for the environment than nitrogen fertilizer. Moving forward, we would like further exploring other biofuel options. Specifically which biofuel is best under different circumstances like soil type, plant type, and climate. Although not our area of study, researching this topic taught us how to find pertinent articles, interpret and extrapolate data into a concise project that is helpful no matter what educational path a person takes in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
