Nicknamed \u201cThe Land of the Midnight Sun,\u201d some of Norway\u2019s northern parts reside above the Arctic Circle. In the summer months Norway receives sunshine for 24 hours a day. Home to 30 percent of the Atlantic Puffin population, and large schools of dolphins, Norway is a popular tourist destination for marine animal sightseeing. Mainland Norway was occupied and controlled by Germany from April 1940 until the war ended in September 1945. The northern parts of Norway, such as the area depicted in the poster, was likely unaffected by the war. A little more than 1,000 Norwegian citizens were injured or lost their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
