The Pipeline is a virtual queue where new courses and refresh courses are organised, tracked, and assigned to a Learning Designer for development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What information do I need to provide to get my course into the Pipeline?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Course Title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course Code<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has this course been taught before? If so, how was the course taught? In person, hybrid, synchronous, or asynchronous?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What type of course is this? Prof Ed, Reg. Refresh, Reg. New Course, Ox. New Course, or Special?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you have a preferred LD you\u2019d like to work with?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Pipeline contains the following information for each course:&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>LD: <\/strong>The Learning Designer who is assigned to the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Course Code:<\/strong> The official Miami course code.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Type:<\/strong> There are a variety of course types at Miami University, including Prof Ed, Reg. Refresh, Reg. New Course, Ox. New Course, Special,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Course Author:<\/strong> The faculty member who created the course with an LD.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Status: <\/strong>The status of a course in the Pipeline. The statuses include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Not Started<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Active\/In Progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Peer Review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cancelled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Taught in Next Term:<\/strong> This lets all stakeholders know whether the course will be taught in the next term or not. If a course is being taught in the next term, then the course must be done on time, and the LD may have to push the course manually.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Notes:<\/strong> This section gives the Learning Design Manager a space to list any notes about the course.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>App Sent:<\/strong> Has the Learning Design Manager sent the relevant Agreement (Course Development Agreement for credit-bearing courses or Content Assignment Agreement for Professional Education)?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>App Returned: <\/strong>Has the Agreement been returned?\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TOMU Training: <\/strong>Teaching Online at Miami University training\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enrolled<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Course Development Start (Kickoff) Date:<\/strong> This denotes either the Semester or the exact date when the Course Development starts.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Must be done by &#8211; or &#8211; Course Development Complete\/Cancelled Date:<\/strong> This denotes when the course development must be completed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prod Time (Weeks):<\/strong> How long it took for the course to be created.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I get my course into the Pipeline?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To submit your course to be developed with Miami Online, you will need to reach out to the Learning Design Manager, Tina Riedy, via email: <a href=\"mailto:riedyt@miamioh.edu\">riedyt@miamioh.edu<\/a>. She\/they will review your request and send you an Agreement to fill out to enter the Pipeline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are developing courses as part of a new online program, or a program being newly converted to online, your department chair or the program lead may already have booked space for your course in the Pipeline. Miami Online coordinates Pipeline resources to accommodate new programs as well as ongoing needs, with priority given to developments that align with the overall Miami strategic planning process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the wait time for the Pipeline?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submitting your course to the Pipeline is akin to trying to book a reservation at a popular restaurant; it\u2019s better to get it in sooner rather than later. Some instructors and departments submit their Pipeline requests 3 to 5 years in advance, especially when creating a series of courses. The bare minimum is to submit your Agreement no later than 1 semester before you\u2019d like to begin your course development. That being said, it doesn\u2019t guarantee that a spot will still be available, as we have a limited number of LDs and the Pipeline tends to fill up quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend you submit your Agreement 2 semesters in advance. For example, if you want to book course development in Fall, then submit your Agreement by the second week of the Spring Semester at the latest of the same year. If you want to book a spot in the Pipeline for Spring, then submit your Agreement by the second week of the previous Fall Semester. If you want to develop a course in the Summer Semester, then submit your Agreement at the beginning of the Winter Semester and vice versa for Winter Semester development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Once my course has been selected in the Pipeline, how long do I have to create the course with a Learning Designer?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard course production time is 10 to 12&nbsp; weeks (3 months). If you feel that you will need more time for development, please communicate this when working with the Learning Design Manager so that they can plan the overlap of the course into another semester and adjust the workload of the assigned LD.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I get help with small projects that fall outside the Pipeline?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Miami Online offers the opportunity for instructors to book a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1kIeLLnSbe3D3dgBBgZmppIf9mTZrMbgSRYydfdLeIgI\/edit?tab=t.0\">Course Design Consultation with a Learning Designer<\/a> of their choice. These course-design-specific consultation sessions are offered Monday through Thursday.
