I attended the Jackson Olson lecture series on February 16th. Jackson Olson is a baseball player for the Savannah Bananas and content creator. I did not know much about the Savannah Bananas or the league before his lecture. From what I gathered it is baseball but more fun! They play baseball while performing with the focus on fan enjoyment. Olson had gathered a following before joining the team making his story rather unique. They offered him a job of content creating and then he brought up his history of playing baseball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Throughout college he made TikToks. He put himself out there by being himself. He focused on making content about his daily life and struggles as a grocery deliverer. He emphasised how shy he was growing up and making these videos allowed himself to open up and later created great opportunities for himself. He briefly touched on getting made fun of by his college baseball team for making these videos. He stuck with it because it brought him joy and he stuck with his motto of \u201cDon\u2019t Be Afraid 2 BU.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As mentioned, Olson now plays for the Savana Bananas. He is now seen as an older player, older in the sense he’s been on the team for awhile. He mentions his loyalty to the team and how the creator of Banana ball has really been a mentor or a leader for him in his life. He strives to achieve the goals set by the creator to be unique and bring joy. Olson is also a leader in his own right. He has spoken out about his own mental health and encourages fans to seek help. Additionally, being on the team for a while he is a leader to new players teaching them dances and helping them embrace themselves. The game is funny and he shows a great example of forgetting all the judgement and to truly just be yourself. <\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
