With finals week quickly approaching, your favorite study spot may be getting way too crowded! If you’re a regular at King Library, you may find yourself unable to get a study room, table, or cubicle due to the influx of students in the weeks leading up to finals. Luckily, you’re not at a complete loss! Here are some alternative spots for a quiet, focused study environment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B.E.S.T. Library (Laws Hall)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

BEST Library is a great alternative to King. Located on the first floor and in the basement of Laws Hall, this library is quiet and typically less crowded than King. And it still offers great amenities such as cubicles, printing, computers, tables, and comfortable chairs. Starting Friday, December 9th through Thursday, December 15th, BEST will offer finals week extended hours. They will be open on weekdays from 7:30am-2am and on weekends from 9am-2am.<\/p>\n\n\n

Farmer School of Business (Forsythe Library and Technology Center<\/span>)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Located on the main floor of Farmer, right down the Hall from Taylor Auditorium, this library offers a comfortable place for individual study and printing services.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lane Public Library (Off-campus by Miami Preserve Apartments)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Oxford Lane Library is a great off-campus alternative for a nice study space. Located at 441 South Locust Street (across from TJ Maxx), this library is a new building with excellent resources, and is not likely to be quite as crowded as King due to its off-campus location. Lane Library offers study rooms that can accommodate 2-6 people and can be reserved through their website<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n

Kofenya (Uptown)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Grab a coffee, tea, or snack and study all in the same place! Kofenya is a locally run and operated coffee shop located on the corner of Beech and High Street right uptown that offers chill vibes and comfortable seating areas with more space than Starbucks! If studying in a coffee shop isn’t your scene, just swing by and grab a coffee here in between your studying!<\/p>\n\n\n

Armstrong Pavilion (Upper level)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In addition to regular study rooms that students can reserve, during finals week Armstrong Student Center opens Pavilions A & B for students to use as an overflow study spot. They bring in tables and chairs for students to sit at and do work. This is a great place to go if you can’t find any other place to sit in Armstrong. The room is also equipped with plenty of outlets to charge your laptops, but make sure to bring your own computer and study materials as this space does not have any. Students tend to be respectful of the low-volume rule, so you don’t have to worry about a lot of noise!<\/p>\n\n\n

Laws Hall ( Study rooms)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Did you know that Laws Hall also has study rooms you can reserve? While they are not located in the basement where most of BEST Library is, there are study rooms available on the first and second floors. Reservations can be made two weeks in advance under BEST Library at this link. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n

Classrooms in McGuffey Hall (by reservation)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Groups can reserve a classroom in McGuffey Hall during finals week for a large space that everyone in your organization will fit in! Renting out your own room in McGuffey allows groups to set their own rules such as talking, music, food, etc. This is a nice space to get your work and studying done with your friends.<\/p>\n\n\n
