You know what time it is! Yes, the course list for the spring semester is out, and since scheduling is right around the corner, we figured we\u2019d scour the course list to highlight a few fun classes to consider! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. ART 121 | Observational Drawing <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Are you ready to unleash your inner artist? In observational drawing, you\u2019ll trade your laptop for charcoal and graphite! Whether you’re looking to try something new or trying to boost your drawing skills, this class has you covered with a good mix of hands-on drawing, demos, and critiques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. SLM 150A | Beginning Canoeing <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Paddle your way through the semester in beginning canoeing! This class will have you on the water learning the essential skills of canoeing in no time. You\u2019ll get to master the basics of tandem paddling, water safety, and even gain some navigation skills. Think of this as your ultimate excuse to trade the classroom for nature!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not into canoeing? There\u2019s also sections of SLM 150 for beginning backpacking (150B), rock climbing (150 C), and horseback riding (150E)! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creativity & Design Thinking brings innovation to life with team-based projects and fun hands-on challenges. You\u2019ll leave this course with new skills that can be applied to any major! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Movie buffs, this one’s for you. This course dives into how films portray the mysterious, glamorous, and gritty world of the mafia. You\u2019ll watch classics, unpack cultural perspectives, and learn how cinema shapes the way we understand the mafia phenomenon. Get your popcorn ready!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step into your creative side! This course takes you through collaboration, idea-building, and bringing concepts to life, all while working towards a public performance. This class is less about sitting in a lecture and more about diving into your creative side, learning how to give and receive feedback, and discovering the magic of the creative process! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. CLS 102 | Roman Civilization: From City to Empire<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve found yourself thinking about the Roman empire in your spare time – or wondering why some people do – this class might be a good one for you! It meets several attributes of the Miami plan and is sure to be an interesting deep dive!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore leadership through playing and analyzing board, card, and role-playing games? Uh, yes please! EDL 290T is designed to demonstrate how different games illustrate various leadership skills like teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. HST 244 | Raiders of the Lost Archive<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Annnnnd the award for the best class name goes to this one! This history course is for majors and non-majors, and uses Indiana Jones films to explore historical research. The class title is enough incentive for me on this one, but it also offers the opportunity to contribute research to active projects!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
