Before the end of Spring semester, we asked current Miami students in an Instagram Story<\/a> what advice they had for incoming students. We have compiled their best advice here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Involvement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

  • Go to Mega Fair!!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Get Involved!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • There is more to do at Miami than partying.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Join a club that’s out of your comfort zone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Join clubs! They are a great way to meet people, and there is a club for everything!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Don\u2019t be afraid to try new things!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • RUSH!!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Get involved, the busier you are, the better you do in classes!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Friendship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • You won\u2019t meet all your best friends in welcome week and that\u2019s 1,000% okay!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Talk to people! Make friends!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Make a friend in every class and exchange numbers!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Ya don\u2019t have to drink alcohol to have fun or make friends at Miami<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Download CBORD Mobile ID so you don\u2019t get locked out of your room<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Bring an umbrella, rain boots, and a raincoat because it\u2019s not just regular rain here.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • STUDY ABROAD!!!! Start planning early so you have the most options 👍😃<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Print out a map of campus for when you first get here!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Meal Plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • It\u2019s okay to change your meal plan, make sure you are using all the swipes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Appreciate all home cooked meals before you leave<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>

          Life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • Embrace change, learn to be vulnerable, and work hard, but don\u2019t forget to take care of yourself!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Don\u2019t be so hard on yourself! The first semester is always a learning experience!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • When opportunity knocks, don’t shut it down!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Time management is key in college<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            • Get help if you need it! First semester away from home can be rough!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Talk to your RA – They\u2019re a valuable resource of information, friendship, and guidance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Your first year might be rough, but you will work through it. Don\u2019t get discouraged!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>
