The weather is finally warming up and the days are once again getting longer! With only six weeks left of the semester, there is no better time than NOW to take advantage of our campus before you leave. <\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you like to hike, walk, or jog, Miami\u2019s nature trails are perfect for everyone. Take a break and go outside to breathe in the fresh spring air you\u2019ve been missing all winter long! \u00a0Between our campus\u2019 9 trails, there are over 17 MILES of Natural Areas to explore. The trails are all connected (except WRA), so you can extend your walk easily! Check out the <\/span>virtual<\/span><\/a> or \u00a0<\/span>printable<\/span><\/a> trail maps online to get the lay of the land before you go. Additionally, if you visit this <\/span>website<\/span><\/a>, every trail is listed with information on its difficulty level, distance, and more!\"People<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

On all of these trails, there are signs at all intersections with “you are here dots” showing just where you are. All signs point north so you can easily see where you are going and where you have been. There are many signs to help ensure you don\u2019t get lost, but we recommend that you always take a friend or go with a group of people to explore!<\/span><\/p>\n

Another bonus? The trails are a great opportunity to visit a few historical sites. The Marcum trail is the home to the Dewitt Homstead built in 1805. This is now the oldest remaining structure in Oxford Township. It\u2019s the last of the pioneer homesteads established along the Four-Mile Creek before Miami University even existed.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have already walked Miami\u2019s trails and are looking to mix it up, consider trying <\/span>Oxford\u2019s <\/span><\/a>trails instead. There are three different options and all of them are still within walking distance from campus. <\/span><\/p>\n
