Fall Break is finally here! We’re just about to wrap up our seventh week of the semester. We’re halfway through – can you believe it? If you’re staying in Oxford for Fall Break, don’t worry, there’s plenty to do! Here are some ideas to get you started planning your long weekend of relaxation!<\/p>\n

\u00a01. Go hiking at Hueston Woods<\/h2>\n

Fall weather is perfect for being outdoors! Located just 5 miles northeast of Oxford, Hueston Woods<\/a> is a national state park boasting 625 acres. If hiking isn’t quite your thing, there’s also horseback riding, fishing, a nature center, and so much more!<\/p>\n

2. Pick a pumpkin at\u00a0Butterfield Farms<\/h2>\n

Also located just outside of Oxford is Butterfield Farms.\u00a0You can pick pumpkins, go on a hayride, and even feed cows!<\/p>\n

3. Shop at the Farmers Market<\/h2>\n

Take a trip to the Oxford Farmers Market<\/a> in Uptown Park and buy locally grown produce, fresh flowers, crafts, and so much more! During the fall, the Oxford Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.<\/p>\n

4. Get a warm drink at Kofenya or Oxford Coffee Company<\/h2>\n

Whether it’s coffee, apple cider, hot chocolate, or even if iced is more your style, Kofenya<\/a> is a great place to relax and enjoy some quality beverages. You could also venture a bit farther and check out the Oxford Coffee Company<\/a> (on Lynn Ave, next to LaRosas Pizza), where there is plenty of free parking.<\/p>\n

5. Celebrate the arts at Oxford Community Arts Center<\/h2>\n

Second Friday<\/a> is a local celebration of the arts beginning at 6 pm on the second Friday of each month. This free event features new art exhibitions, open studios, and live music!<\/p>\n

6. Eat somewhere new<\/h2>\n

Fall Break means\u00a0fewer students, and\u00a0fewer students mean shorter lines. Maybe there’s somewhere uptown<\/a> you’ve always wanted to\u00a0try but\u00a0never had an opportunity. Now is your chance!<\/p>\n

7. Paint pottery at You’re Fired<\/h2>\n

Is your room still feeling a little bland? Head uptown to You’re Fired<\/a> to paint anything from mugs to tiles and pick it up a week later after it’s been fired in the kiln!<\/p>\n

8. See a movie with MAP<\/h2>\n

Miami Activities and Programming is showing the summer box-office hit, Baby Driver, in Wilks Theatre this Friday, October 13th, at 9 PM through Late Night Miami<\/a>. And it’s free!<\/p>\n

9. Go bowling at Oxford Lanes<\/h2>\n

Feeling competitive? Grab some friends and hit up the lanes<\/a>.\u00a0Whether you’re a bumper bowler or battling for the perfect game, you’ll still have a great time!<\/p>\n

10. Take fall pictures with friends<\/h2>\n

Grab a few friends\u00a0and head somewhere scenic, like the Formal Gardens or Western Campus to take advantage of the changing leaves and lesser traffic this weekend. You’ll love having a few photos to look back on your quiet weekend.<\/p>\n
