Fall Semester of the \u201917-\u201918 school year is officially in full swing! You may have noticed a few things are different here on campus, so here\u2019s a breakdown of what\u2019s changed since the spring semester:<\/h3>\n

1. Whether you\u2019re a pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorist, pay close attention to the new three-way traffic stop<\/strong> at the intersection of Maple and Spring streets in front of Armstrong. This change was made to improve safety for everyone as well as provide smoother circulation of traffic.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0If you haven\u2019t noticed already, the H.O.M.E. office<\/strong> is now in the Campus Avenue Building. Head to the first floor of the CAB for concerns related to Miami ID cards, meal plan and MUlaa, housing assignments, parking customer service, and box office tickets for nonathletic events.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0More importantly, let\u2019s talk food<\/strong>. Maplestreet Station has combined First Stop, Pacific Rim, and Americas into Maplestreet Commons, which serves pizza, deli items, paninis, custom stir-fry, pasta, burgers, and allergen-friendly options. Encounter has been replaced by Maple Grill, featuring burgers, chicken, quesadillas, quinoa bowls, and more. The Q has new additions to its menu, such as made-to-order salads and new dessert items.<\/p>\n

Over in Armstrong, Caf\u00e9 Lux offers coffee, pastries, soups, and sandwiches. Traditions has been converted into The Toasted Bagel, which has tons of breakfast and lunch bagel options, as well as made-to-order salads for lunch and dinner. Red Zone is another new addition that serves your favorite courtside foods like specialty hot dogs and popcorn, burgers, sandwiches, and much more. The Haines\u2019 Boulangerie removed their made-to-order salads and coffee, but added Mediterranean bowls, sandwiches, and wraps. 4.\u00a0Career Services has a) changed their name – they are now the Center for Career Exploration and Success<\/strong>, and b) replaced the CAREERlink recruiting and advising database with a new system called Handshake<\/a><\/strong>. Check it out to create your online professional profile (viewable by employers), view the job board and employer list, register for on-campus mock interviews or advising appointments, sign up for Career Center events, and more.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Miami\u2019s on-campus Mail & Package Center<\/strong> has moved to Shriver Center. In addition to its full-service post office, two thousand Smart Package Lockers have been added so students can pick up their packages in lockers that are available anytime day or night, seven days a week. Just be sure to pick it up from a locker within 24 hours or it\u2019ll be stored at the customer service window for an additional 48 hours (window hours are 8 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. M-F; 11 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. Saturday). Packages can also still be delivered to residence halls for an extra fee!<\/p>\n

6. Did you know that Miami University Fashion and Design students created a jewelry line<\/strong> for Miami\u2019s bookstore? The line\u2019s motto is \u201cOur School, Our Story\u201d and can be found on the\u00a0bookstore website<\/a> and at the bookstore’s new supplies and technology store in Armstrong, \u201cBrick & Ivy\u201d<\/strong> (which has extended hours, including Sundays)!<\/p>\n

7. The newly renovated Clawson and Hamilton<\/strong> residence halls are open and more beautiful than ever. Upgrades also included improved ADA accessibility, energy efficient technologies, and more. Needless t0 say,\u00a0we\u2019re all pretty envious of the lucky residents of these new residence halls!<\/p>\n

8. The parking lots by Shriver Center and MacMillan Hall<\/strong> are now restricted to admission guests only from 7 a.m. \u2013 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, but are available after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends with payment through the kiosks located in each lot. Be sure to place your kiosk receipt on your vehicle\u2019s dashboard and remember that paid parking is enforced anytime that it is not restricted to admission guest parking (including overnight). A number of short-term metered parking spots are also now available on Maple Street from Hiestand Hall to Spring Street \u2013 but pay attention to the signs!<\/p>\n
