The clock\nstopped talking to us. It mattered little; \nWe thirsted every minute of every hour, every day\nwe\u2019d almost forgotten the taste, but spittle\nkeeps our senses sane, barely. \n\nWells filled, rivers buried, seas seized.\nThe minute and hour hands lie atop each other like frozen lovers.\nIt is almost time to taste, the wind whispers.\nTime to taste the freshness and honey of life,\nto wash away grime plastered on teeth. \n\nO,\nGive us our daily, yearly, eternal bread. \nWe\u2019ve been patient, waiting for rainwater. \n\nA drop.\n<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tariq Karibian<\/strong> is a Palestinian-Armenian writer from the Metro-Detroit area. He writes primarily Southwest Asian\/North African-inspired work, but his writings also blend his roots with other cultures, traditions, and identities to explore human intersectionality. His debut novel &#8220;Sounds of the Watermelon Men&#8221; is in development. Tariq holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Villanova University and a M.A. in Humanities\/Creative Writing from the University of Chicago.
