However bright\nhis scales seemed in summer, winter has stripped\ntheir copper of its luster, starved of light\nto set them blazing in this frosted crypt.\n\nExperience has promised him revival:\nshimmering ripples in the breeze beyond\nand April snowmelts quick enough to rival\nthe flood in Genesis. Until the pond\n\nis so reborn, he\u2019ll bide his time, each sigh\nof water past his gills composed and dry.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Michael Mingo <\/strong>is a poet and medical editor from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
