Myths<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of scrounging\u00a0for sugar, hiding<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">friends\u00a0under fake floors. Preparing<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for the worst. I pull back the covers<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to see what\u2019s feeding on our sleep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sweating on the armpits of the apron,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I can\u2019t claim to know one end of the book\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">from the other, history an ignition chamber<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I can\u2019t always count on. So I\u2019m waving\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a wand of yellow roses to build up<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">bullet-proof heaven, dreams of dill<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">seed sprouting\u2014here, in the afterlife<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of heroes, where women lead the pack.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">True or false: I fired a shotgun once.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It backfired before the power went out\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in the country, all thirteen stripes<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trumpeting: Great Whiteness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Imagine\u2014being buried alive<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">with a TV and smart watch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Flushed cheeks, I\u2019d rather be caught<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">scheming, crawling toward the interior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A belief is a delicate bloom. That lava<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">exists is a fact I choose to accept.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Therefore: strawberries, lip gloss,<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hot peppers and panic buttons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You learn to identify poison.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You punch out of the box.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nancy Lyn\u00e9e Woo spends her free time hitching a ride to the other side of maybe.
