About

One of the primary initiatives of the Miami University Art Museum is to attract and interact with students and for those future graduates to experience and participate in the arts in new ways. The Student Response Exhibition is one facet of this exploration that allows current undergraduate and graduate students to exhibit their art in a museum gallery setting.

Debuting in Spring 2014, the Student Response Exhibition is an annual exhibition featuring artwork by students of all disciplines. As a juried exhibition, all works are selected through a formal process by a committee.

Miami University students are called upon to creatively respond to a select theme. Past themes were The Circle, The Box, Military Conflict and Resolution; and Creativity and Innovation to name a few.

In recent years, three works in the exhibition were chosen for cash awards by votes cast by visitors viewing the exhibition via the provided kiosk in the gallery. Cash awards are sponsored by the Art Museum Membership Association.
