Artist Statement: Because I come from Vietnam, I’m dedicating my piece to illustrate several iconic Vietnamese dishes which I personally love. The big bowl in the middle is filled with Phở, and the four smaller circles consecutively – from left to right, top to bottom – are Nem, Bánh Xèo, Bánh Mì, and Bún Chả. I experimented with the circle theme and just decided to incorporate food into it, and with each food item wrapped in a circle the piece has a fun and unexpected look to it.
