Artist Statement: Life is the most cyclical thing we know. The never-ending circle of life, death and birth is what defines our understanding of the world and ourselves. Mortality is a circle that can be fought or embraced, and the majority choose to fight. However, to submit to the circle doesn’t mean giving up on life; on the contrary, it means accepting all aspects of life, even the changes and the ultimate change. This animation, set in Okunoin, the historic Buddhist cemetery, is an exploration on what it means to embrace this cycle.
