Artist Statement: This piece is a visual exploration of my developing understanding of personal growth as cyclical rather than strictly linear. I remember excitedly speaking to my mom during a very strong season of my life. She responded out of her own past hurt: “It won’t last. Life is like a roller coaster of spiritual highs and lows.” ||Potential energy represents the amount of work the roller coaster will be able to do with the energy it builds up from falling down the hill. But do we summit at our first high and then come crashing down with only small glimpses of growth for the rest of the ride?
