Artist Statement: The title of this piece sums up the thoughts behind the work, that underneath our outward appearance, we are all the same. I used a combination of printmaking processes to emulate human skin cells under a microscope. Next I included yarn to emulate the texture of cell membranes and used a contrasting color to draw the viewers eyes to each individual cell. While the cells appear tame in some and erratic in others, they create the over skin of a human and no matter the race of an individual this is what it would like like if viewed under a microscope. This piece is left open to invite tactility.
