They do not happen often; the last
midterms were in 2018 during the second year of Trump’s presidency. Midterms only take place
halfway through a president’s term. Midterm elections are important because they determine
who will be sent to Congress. They generally have a lower voting turnout than the presidential
elections, which is ironic considering that Congress has more power than the president. Without
Congress writing and passing certain laws, the president would likely be able to achieve for less
than he wants. Therefore, it is important that you vote on November 8th! We need representatives
in Congress that uphold and “vote” their constituents’ values and priorities. The governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer of
state, auditor, and Ohio Supreme Court Chief Judge are also positions that are in play this year.
