Women make up approximately 51% of the population, but less than 30%<br>of Congress. IGNITE is on a mission to change this by providing an outlet for<br>young women to let their voices be heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Three women at Miami University have recently started an IGNITE chapter at<br>Oxford. Jasmine Pearson is the president, Annalise Chapdelaine is the secretary,<br>and Hannah Armentrout is the treasurer. When asked why they chose IGNITE,<br>Jasmine Pearson said, \u201cI\u2019m passionate about politics and I want to get more<br>women involved.\u201d Annalise Chapdelaine echoed this sentiment: \u201cI\u2019m passionate<br>about gender equity and increasing women\u2019s confidence and voices in all<br>environments!\u201d Finally, Hannah Armentrout added, \u201cI\u2019m passionate about politics<br>and want to run for office one day\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>IGNITE is a great way for Regionals students to get involved on Oxford\u2019s campus<br>and make a difference. This organization has meetings every other Tuesday at 7<br>pm. They discuss women in office and the current issues they\u2019re facing, all while<br>remaining as bipartisan as possible. The girls try to make talking about politics fun<br>by doing trivia, watching political documentaries, and doing fun activities. At the<br>next meeting, on October 18 th at 7pm, IGNITE will be making vision boards and<br>brainstorming the characteristics of successful women leaders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By Hannah Armentrout&#8212; IGNITE is a national organization that encourages young women to get involved inpolitics.
