Tote Hughes\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Fountain<\/em>&nbsp;is a metaphysical detective story unlike any other, a comic tour de force set in a labyrinthine world of shifting signs and dreamlike insolubility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-normal-font-size\">Reviews &amp; Such<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>David Rawson&#8217;s interview with Tote Hughes appeared in&nbsp;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/heavyfeatherreview.com\/2015\/05\/28\/one-time-i-met-a-swaggering-expat-in-a-japanese-convenience-store-who-gave-me-a-lecture-on-his-theory-of-novels-an-interview-with-tote-hughes\/\">Heavy Feather Review<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;on May 28, 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>John Wilkinson, Associate Chair for Creative Writing and Poetics at the University of Chicago, gave the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.orgs.miamioh.edu\/mupress\/downloads\/150415_intro_johnwilkinson.pdf\">introduction to Hughes\u2019s Seminary Co-op Bookstore reading<\/a>&nbsp;on April 15, 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.publishersweekly.com\/978-1-881163-55-8\"><em>Publishers Weekly<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;reviewed Fountain on March 9, 2015: \u201cIn this first-person narrative told in Charfo&#8217;s voice, the journey becomes the reward&nbsp;\u2026&nbsp;Readers experience the topsy-turvy sense of having landed in media res in a strange world without knowledge of the landmarks. \u2026&nbsp;an intelligent, perceptive novel.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>John Taylor recommended&nbsp;<em>Fountain<\/em>&nbsp;in the March 2015 edition of&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.midwestbookreview.com\/mbw\/mar_15.htm#taylor\"><em>Midwest Book Review<\/em><\/a>: &#8220;Erudite, complex, deftly constructed&#8230;Very highly recommended for community and academic library literary fiction collections.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A micro review of&nbsp;<em>Fountain<\/em>&nbsp;appeared in&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nerds-feather.com\/2015\/03\/micoreview-book-fountain-by-tote-hughes.html\"><em>Nerds of a Feather Flock Together<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;in March 2015: &#8220;<em>Fountain<\/em><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>has that wonderfully bizarre but ingenious feel that leaves you on the edge of your seat grasping for more.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Fountain<\/em>&nbsp;seems not unlike a witty and elegant English translation of some peculiar allegory from another land and another time.&nbsp;It\u2019s wonderful, in other words.&nbsp;I deeply admire this antic, atmospheric, and dreamily vivid tale.&nbsp;<br><strong>\u2013Chris&nbsp;Bachelder, <\/strong>author of&nbsp;<em>Abbott Awaits<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>U.S.!<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tote Hughes&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Fountain<\/em>&nbsp;is one of the strangest books I&#8217;ve come across in years, and I mean that as an extraordinary compliment.
