The best way to add a video you’re hosting in Kaltura to your Canvas course is to add it to a page that you’ve created in a module. This is a two-step process: creating the new page, then embedding your video into that page.
What’s the storage limit for my Canvas course?
All courses are limited to 1G of storage. Typically, you won’t need more space than this if you load all of your media files into Kaltura or YouTube, and narrated PowerPoint files should be added via Voicethread.
Can I download a video that I added to Kaltura?
Yes, you can download a video that’s currently in your Kaltura My Media account. It’s a two-step process: enable downloading the video in its action settings, then downloading the video file.
Where can I find recorded Webex Meetings or Trainings?
When you record a Webex meeting, the recording is saved to the cloud and will appear within your miamioh.webex.com account.
How do I add video files to Canvas?
You should add all video files to your course through the My Media link in your course’s navigation menu. This allows you to upload your videos to Kaltura, Miami’s official video hosting platform, which is integrated with Canvas.
Can I tell if students are watching videos in Canvas?
If you upload your videos to Kaltura, which appears as “My Media” in your course navigation menu, you’ll be able to see exactly which students viewed your video, how many times it was viewed, and the point at which they stopped watching.
Can students upload video assignments to YouTube?
All Miami students have YouTube accounts through their miamioh.edu credentials that provide access to higher-level features; it’s provided to them (and everyone with a @miamioh.edu account) via our Google Apps for Education account.
