Three different features/tools are built into or integrated with Miami’s Canvas instance that you can use to check files, images, and other content you’ve added to your course to make sure they meet accessibility requirements.
- Accessibility checker in pages: You can use this feature if you’ve created a page in Canvas; it’s part of its rich content editor. It’ll help you make sure content you’ve added to pages meets accessibility standards and enable you to easily make corrections if needed.
- Accessibility checker for files: If you upload PDFs and other types of files in Canvas, this feature will give each one an accessibility score. A third-party app called Blackboard Ally, it’s integrated with our Canvas instance and is always running in your courses.
- Document remediation: You’ll see this listed as CARES in your course navigation bar; it’s managed by AccessMU. It’s a self-service tool that allows you and your students to convert documents into more accessible formats.
