{"id":983,"date":"2017-02-08T10:02:54","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T15:02:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/?p=983"},"modified":"2017-02-08T10:02:54","modified_gmt":"2017-02-08T15:02:54","slug":"living-our-diversity-values-it-and-the-miami-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/?p=983","title":{"rendered":"Living our Diversity Values: IT and the Miami Nation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In September a group of Miami University staff and faculty went to Oklahoma, the home of the Miami Nation. \u00a0JP Natale, Troy Travis Tim Gruenhagen, \u00a0Jeff Triplett, Jim Oris, and Doug Troy, met with Daryl Baldwin (Head of Myaamia Center, and 2016 MacArthur Fellow), and\u00a0Chief Doug Lankford.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-984\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"20160928_115155\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155-624x351.jpg 624w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2017\/02\/20160928_115155.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>IT staff met several times with the Myaamia Center staff here in Oxford to learn about how they use technology to support language development, cultural heritage preservation, digital archives, youth education, and many other important aspects of the research performed by the Myaamia Center in the rich partnership between Miami University and the Miami Nation.<\/p>\n<p>A visit to the home of the Miami Nation was planned to develop a new aspect to that rich partnership. The team held a workshop to identify how IT Services can support the Myaamia Center&#8217;s work and the Miami Nation.
