Miller, Service Catalog Process Owner<br \/>\n<\/em><\/b><b><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/itservices\/files\/2016\/10\/Cursor_and_Dana.png\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The word \u201cservice\u201d is used quite often and in many different ways in the workplace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The services in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.teamdynamix.com\/TDClient\/Requests\/ServiceCatalog\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service Catalog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> have been created with this definition of a service in mind:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>\u00a0<i>A Service is a means of delivering value to customers by facilitating outcomes customers want to achieve without the ownership of specific costs and risks.<\/i><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another way of looking at this definition of service is to think about how we get electricity into our homes. \u00a0We want electricity in our homes for lighting, heating and other uses but we don\u2019t want to invest in a coal burning power plant in the back yard to generate our electricity. \u00a0We rely on the power utility to provide the electric service and we are willing to pay them for the service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instead of electricity, we provide the IT services as defined in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service Catalog<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u00a0By definition, those services deliver value and facilitate faculty, staff, and students achieving their desired outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This series about the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Service Catalog<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is designed to help you understand how your daily work contributes to the success of IT Services and Miami University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you have any questions or ideas for improving the Service Catalog contact me (mille704@miamioh.ed) or enter a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.teamdynamix.com\/TDClient\/Requests\/ServiceDet?ID=12455\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Continual Improvement Committee for IT Services (CIRCUIT)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> suggestion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thanks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Dana P.
