Kayla is a non-traditional student, wife, and mother of five. I am a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. In her free time, Kayla enjoy hiking, baking, going to concerts, and doing Native American crafts. She is also a Native American Jingle Dress Dancer and the PR manager for the rock band, Tyrant’s Downfall.
“This is a photo I took while collecting maple sap with the myaamia center. We learned how our ancestors would process and use the sap so we could do the same. We also learned when to tap a tree and when not to so we do not hurt the tree. This image shows the beautiful simplicity that going ‘back to nature’ can provide.”
