{"id":73,"date":"2019-07-29T15:23:12","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T19:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/ifsam\/?page_id=73"},"modified":"2021-09-08T10:27:53","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T14:27:53","slug":"committees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/ifsam\/committees\/","title":{"rendered":"Committees"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nine IFSAM committees support international faculty and staff in Oxford and regionals. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Awards Nomination:<\/strong> Notify members of upcoming deadlines for nominations to various University awards; review suggestions or requests for deserving IFSAM members to be nominated and provide support to nominees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jacqueline Rioja Velarde (Center for American &amp; World Cultures)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Communications:<\/strong>&nbsp;Update IFSAM blog; promote IFSAM; manage IFSAM emails by referring the email sender to relevant committees; send out upcoming event information; add new members to the IFSAM listserv; take meeting notes and send them out to IFSAM members regularly (every month followed by the IFSAM meeting). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Corrine Kidd (Accountancy, FSB) <\/li><li> Yuenan Jin Rodriguez (ISSS, Global Initiatives) <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Event Planning &amp; Finance:<\/strong> Schedule the location and time of IFSAM events and meetings using 25Live; order food and drink; plan budget for each academic year to achieve the goals of IFSAM more effectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Emily George (Alumni Association)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Immigration &amp; Tax Filing Support:<\/strong>&nbsp;Provide resources and information regarding visas and immigration (e.g., F-1, J-1. H-1B, green card) as well as the filing of taxes for non-residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Molly Heidemann (ISSS, Global Initiatives)&nbsp;<\/li><li> Angela Trubceac (Educational Leadership, CEHS)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Faculty Promotion: <\/strong> Provide resources that help with promotion (e.g., tenure, lecturer promotion, permanent teaching positions). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Haifei Shi (Biology, CAS)<\/li><li>Zara Torlone (Classics, CAS<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Faculty and Staff Support at Regionals<\/strong>: Promote IFSAM to instructors at regional campuses and share the concerns and needs of regionals faculty with IFSAM; discuss how IFSAM can support them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hirenkumar Gami  (Engineering Technology, Middletown) &#8211; faculty<\/li><li>Guillermina Patricia Camacho (Wilks Conference Center, Hamilton) &#8211; staff<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New International Faculty Orientation:<\/strong> Promote IFSAM during new faculty orientation in Aug., hosted by the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE); share the needs or concerns of new international faculty\/instructors with IFSAM; discuss in what ways IFSAM can help new international faculty.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open position<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Instructional Staff<\/strong> (Teaching assistant, graduate assistant, and international scholar) <strong>Support:<\/strong> Share teaching strategies that are effective for new instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Galina Shleykina (English, CAS)&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Unclassified and Classified Staff<\/strong> <strong>Support:<\/strong> Provide opportunities for international staff to experience inclusion at Miami; share the needs of international unclassified and classified staff with IFSAM; promote IFSAM to international staff; work with Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open position<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine IFSAM committees support international faculty and staff in Oxford and regionals.
