Committees

Nine IFSAM committees support international faculty and staff in Oxford and regionals.

Awards Nomination: Notify members of upcoming deadlines for nominations to various University awards; review suggestions or requests for deserving IFSAM members to be nominated and provide support to nominees.

Communications: Update IFSAM blog; promote IFSAM; manage IFSAM emails by referring the email sender to relevant committees; send out upcoming event information; add new members to the IFSAM listserv; take meeting notes and send them out to IFSAM members regularly (every month followed by the IFSAM meeting).

Event Planning & Finance: Schedule the location and time of IFSAM events and meetings using 25Live; order food and drink; plan budget for each academic year to achieve the goals of IFSAM more effectively.

Immigration & Tax Filing Support: Provide resources and information regarding visas and immigration (e.g., F-1, J-1. H-1B, green card) as well as the filing of taxes for non-residents.

Faculty Promotion: Provide resources that help with promotion (e.g., tenure, lecturer promotion, permanent teaching positions).

Faculty and Staff Support at Regionals: Promote IFSAM to instructors at regional campuses and share the concerns and needs of regionals faculty with IFSAM; discuss how IFSAM can support them.

New International Faculty Orientation: Promote IFSAM during new faculty orientation in Aug., hosted by the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE); share the needs or concerns of new international faculty/instructors with IFSAM; discuss in what ways IFSAM can help new international faculty.

Instructional Staff (Teaching assistant, graduate assistant, and international scholar) Support: Share teaching strategies that are effective for new instructors.

Unclassified and Classified Staff Support: Provide opportunities for international staff to experience inclusion at Miami; share the needs of international unclassified and classified staff with IFSAM; promote IFSAM to international staff; work with Communications.
