Summary

The Miami University Symphony Orchestra will close its season with this special concert featuring the winners of the 2023 Concerto Competition: Alec Reeder, (undergraduate student) will perform the Fantasia for Alto Saxophone by Claude Smith; Matt de Souza (graduate student) will perform Mozart’s 2nd Horn Concerto; Franklin Sandoval (graduate student) will perform Schumann’s Cello Concerto.

To mark the 120th anniversary of the Miami Orchestra program, the Department of Music organized a Composition Competition for Miami students. The winner of the contest, Ezra Simmons (undergraduate student), will have his composition, "Daydreams from the Countryside", premiered at the event by the Miami University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ricardo Averbach.
