11/2024. Dr. She made her first presentation at the 43rd Original Lilly Conference on College Teaching, together with Ms. Dilge Dilsiz and Dr. Meghan Phadke. We shared insights on alternative assessment methods for deep learning. It was amazing to see a fully packed room and engage in lively discussions.

09/2024. Dr. She presented the project progress at the NSF EEC Grantees Conference in Alexandria, VA, appreciated the opportunity to connect with fellow PIs while learning from program officers about new funding opportunities and grant management strategies.

08/2024. Congratulations to Maddie Weaver for two presentations at her first international conference, ASME IDETC, in Washington, DC. Kudos as well to Marufa Islam for having our paper published at IDETC.

07/2024. Dr. She shared part of Hunter’s thesis work, “Enhancing Novice Engineers’ Design Experience (DX) through Natural Cognitive Flow Functional Analysis,” at the Eleventh International Conference on Design Computing and Cognition (DCC), Montreal, Canada.

04/2024. Dr. She presented specifications grading in engineering design education at the Miami Advanced Teacher Scholars (ATS) Interactive Poster Session.

3/2024. Dr. She attended the panel “Moving Forward a More Inclusive STEM Field: Women’s Voices and Perspectives at Miami.” It was a valuable experience to hear and discuss each panelist’s journeys in STEM careers and students’ insightful questions.

Elise is a junior double majored in Mechanical Engineering and Physics, Caroline is a senior in Mechanical Engineering, and Hunter is a BS/MS combined student in Mechanical Engineering. They are working on a project that shifting perspectives of functional modeling.

Tom is a junior in Mechanical Engineering, and Sam is a senior in Biomedical Engineering. They teamed up on a research project about smart material and design.
