Thanksgiving Break Housing Available

Miami University

The email below was sent to students living in the residence halls regarding Thanksgiving Break Housing. A slightly modified version was sent to resident of Heritage Commons.

Dear Resident,

As Thanksgiving approaches, we are sending a friendly reminder that all residence halls close on Wednesday, November 22 at 12:00pm (noon) and will reopen at 9:00am on Sunday, November 26.

If you need to stay in your room during Thanksgiving Break, you must submit a request online. Please login to the housing portal (www.miamioh.edu/housingcontract) to request Thanksgiving Break Housing. Because your normal semester room rate does not include break periods, an additional nightly charge applies. The nightly charge is determined based on each student’s Tuition Promise cohort, and is added to their Bursar bill. Additional details about rates and break housing can be found on our website (https://miamioh.edu/campus-services/home/living-at-miami/university-break-housing/index.htm. For safety and security reasons students who remain on campus during breaks must sign up so that we know who is here. Students who remain in their room without signing up will be charged an increased daily rate of $55.

Building temperatures are lowered in unoccupied rooms during break for energy conservation. It’s important that you let us know if you plan to stay in your room so that we can ensure your heat is at the proper level. If you don’t let us know, or you come back unexpectedly, you may find your room cooler than you would like, and it may take up to two days to return to the normal level.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and we hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
