Why Miami?
“I chose to attend Miami after spending time on campus during the 2017 American Legion Buckeye Boys State. I was drawn to the natural beauty and classy feel of the campus. After attending the Summer Scholars Program later that summer, I had the chance to meet some of Miami’s amazing faculty in the political science and journalism departments. I knew then that Miami was the right choice for me.”
Best Miami Experiences
“My best experience at Miami has been participating in conferences in Washington, DC and Columbus, Ohio with the Government Relations Network. By meeting with legislators and networking with alumni, I found key internship opportunities and developed my professional development skills.”
“As a member of College Republicans, I have had a number of high-caliber political experiences. Our organization volunteers for political candidates at the state and local levels, and we hold an annual reception where current students can network with alumni. In addition, I’ve had the opportunity to attend the annual CPAC conference and meet notable political figures including Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Jim Jordan, and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.”
Advice to Students
“I always tell incoming students to take advantage of the numerous opportunities afforded to Miami students, and to use your time at Miami to grow your professional network. The Government Relations Network provides students with so many different opportunities, whether that be the EDL 110 professional development course or the numerous meetings and conferences in which students are invited to participate. In addition, Miami’s alumni network is second to none. We should all take advantage of this vast network, and we should all give back by helping those who come after us.”
