It is very common for students to hold misconceptions about science, these misconceptions are often fueled by their cultural backgrounds along with their everyday experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Address these Misconceptions Respectfully<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Listening to students ideas without immediate correction <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Try to understand the cultural context of certain misconceptions <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using diverse examples during class that incorporate students backgrounds <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Classroom Strategies <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Beginning the year with a pre-assessment to identify students misconceptions early on <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connecting classroom content to students lives <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing students with engaging guided questions that encourage them to rethink their misconceptions
