All of these are called misconceptions!  Why?  These are all ideas that many of us had and probably believed for a long time (or maybe even sill believe!), even though they aren&#8217;t true.  The definition of &#8220;misconception&#8221; from Oxford Languages is, &#8220;a view or opinion that is incorrect because based on faulty thinking or understanding.&#8221;  <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"8 COMMON SCIENCE MYTHS DEBUNKED!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HIj0cr7Snwg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Above is a YouTube videos debunking some of the most common misconceptions!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How are Misconceptions Developed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Misconceptions are typically developed by&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Preconceived notions from the natural world<\/li><li>Religious beliefs that defy scientific reasoning<\/li><li>Misunderstandings of certain concepts<\/li><li>Generational myths<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the most common reasons that attribute to why so many people believe misconceptions, especially in science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>Good teaching practice exposes misconceptions, not hide them.<\/em><\/p><cite>\u2013Unknown<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But How Do I Overcome Misconception in My Science Class?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Firs and foremost, you need to address the misconceptions that student may have about your specific class\u2013 whether it&#8217;s physicals, chemistry, biology, anatomy, etc.  Once you&#8217;re ready and have the misconceptions that you&#8217;d like to debunk, here&#8217;s the following steps you can take&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Facts\u2013 why is &#8220;right is right&#8221;<\/li><li>Refute\u2013 why &#8220;wrong is wrong&#8221;<\/li><li>Inoculation\u2013 the logistical behind the &#8220;right is right&#8221; and &#8220;wrong is wrong&#8221;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/josielynncoffey\/status\/1380007470693761024?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1380007470693761024%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2Fjosielynncoffey2Fstatus2F1380007470693761024widget%3DTweet\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>What are Misconceptions?
