I don\u2019t think anyone will argue with me that they changed from 9<sup>th<\/sup> grade to 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade. I would also argue that you change from the start to the end of 10<sup>th<\/sup> grade. Therefore in my classroom I will have\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A mirror by the door of my classroom. <ul><li>To show that I apricate my students and their\nappearance.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Also, the mirror by the door, not by the lab equipment\nwill show the difference in spaces and how each space is defined. <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Experimental stations on the perimeter of the classroom.<ul><li>There is a space for innovation and hands-on\nlearning.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Equipment out on tables is a visual context cue\nfor the students that they will be challenged in a different way. I want it to be a visual cue and reminder to my students that the little things they choose to do in the classroom matter more than just in my classroom.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Possible Chemistry Lesson Plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Famous minority group Chemists<ul><li>Practice a cooperative learning method \u2013 Jigsaw II<ul><li>4-5 member groups <\/li><\/ul><ul><li>All members are given the same initial starting\ninformation<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>From there the students are given a specific\ntopic to research further<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>After some time for research, they move into\nexpert groups for their topic and share what they have learned with other topic\nexperts<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Come back together to teach their other group\nmembers about each other\u2019s topics<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>This would help in relationship compounding\nthrough the use of this activity several times. Creating habits of helping people\nwhen the student understands could lead to them getting help from other\nstudents when they need it.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>It would also help make connections between\ndifferent fields, such as Chemistry, History, and English. This could help with\nshowing that different knowledge compounds. Please brace yourself!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Possible Activity:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In my classroom, I am going to start the year\nwith giving my students small, 2-minute homework assignments.<ul><li>Students will form a habit of completing homework\n(in theory) because it is only 2-minutes.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>As the year progresses, their homework assignments\nwill progress in time required as well. (I will aim to not go over an hour threshold\nfor a single assignment \u2013 project not included.)<\/li><li>The students the first 2 weeks will have 2-minute\nassignments. Then for the next 3 weeks they will have 5-minute assignments and\nso on. <\/li><li>The gradual increase of homework time will\nhopefully follow the \u201cgateway habit\u201d (Clear, 163) that the 2 minute homework completion\ncreated. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope you follow me in creating atomic habits in your\nclassroom for your students and yourself. As we can see they are too powerful\nto ignore.
