{"id":853,"date":"2022-10-31T09:41:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T13:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/?p=853"},"modified":"2022-10-31T09:41:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T13:41:00","slug":"women-in-business-hosts-panel-on-using-an-accounting-education-to-pursue-your-passions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/2022\/10\/women-in-business-hosts-panel-on-using-an-accounting-education-to-pursue-your-passions\/","title":{"rendered":"Women in Business Hosts Panel on \u201cUsing an Accounting Education to Pursue Your Passions\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On October 5, the Department of Accountancy partnered with Women in Business (WIB) to develop and deliver a great evening panel discussion event to highlight the theme of \u201cUsing an Accounting Education to Pursue Your Passions!\u201d The event was very well attended, with 88 WIB participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three Miami accounting alumnae served as panelists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cassidy Hicks &#8217;20, Senior Analyst at the Kirsch CPA Group (Hamilton, Ohio)<\/li><li>Jen Kemp &#8217;07 (MAcc &#8217;08), Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at Clearcover (Columbus, Ohio)<\/li><li>Julia Poston &#8217;82, Managing Partner (retired), EY (Cincinnati, Ohio)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"901\" height=\"339\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2023\/02\/Head-shots-1.jpg\" alt=\"Head shots of Cassidy Hicks, Jen Kemp, and Julia Poston\" class=\"wp-image-857\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2023\/02\/Head-shots-1.jpg 901w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2023\/02\/Head-shots-1-300x113.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2023\/02\/Head-shots-1-768x289.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 901px) 100vw, 901px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department\u2019s goal is to develop a mentorship for interested WIB participants and help them further understand how an accounting education can be instrumental in pursuing their personal and professional passions. One way we hope to do this is through a new program called \u201cCoffee with Accounting Faculty\u201d that partners WIB members with an Accounting faculty member.
