Lauren Roberts \u201913 <\/strong>has served on the Accountancy Advisory Group since 2018 and is currently the chair of the Student Recruitment and Retention Committee. In this role, Roberts assists in developing a more diverse talent pipeline for accountancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roberts is the chief audit executive at Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS), serving as key advisor to the administration and to the Board of Education. She has been with the CPS for over seven years, starting as a director of internal audit following a three-year stint in assurance at EY soon after graduating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy initial career expectations were to stay within the more typical business world, but after learning more about the opportunity with Cincinnati Public Schools, I was thrilled to take on the challenge,\u201d said Roberts. As director, she had the unique opportunity to build and develop their internal audit department. \u201cI feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in working for a school district, as every dollar we save or process we improve ultimately benefits the students and our community. It is incredible to observe the direct impact of my team\u2019s contributions and audit recommendations on the organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Miami graduate, Roberts credits Professor Daniel Wiegand\u2019s ACC 221 course as instrumental in her decision to pursue an accountancy degree. \u201cProfessor Wiegand discussed how accounting professionals often serve as key leaders in organizations, as they are well equipped to speak to both sides of the house\u2014the financial\/accounting aspects and the strategic areas. This opened my eyes to the versatility of an accounting degree and allowed me to view accounting as a much more creative field than I had initially considered.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In her spare time, Roberts enjoys working on a variety of home-improvement projects, spending time with family and friends, and trying new restaurants throughout Cincinnati. \u201cI love to travel and explore new cities. I recently traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, and hiked the Lake Mary trail. When I can\u2019t get out of Ohio to explore, I am a member of the Cincinnati Nature Center and enjoy walking the trails with my dog,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
