Just a few tidbits of what I mean:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the 2027 U.S. News rankings of the Best National Universities, our accountancy program leapt in at #23 among National Public Universities and #52 overall.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollments in our major are up 65 percent since the spring of 2022.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the last admissions cycle, applications to the accountancy major almost doubled compared to 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>As I\u2019ve told many people, when you do the right things, great things follow. I\u2019m so proud that we\u2019re doing all the right things.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do me two favors\u2014celebrate alongside us, and jump into all the great stories we\u2019re sharing about students who are already proving themselves as leaders; alums who\u2019ve taken the world by storm; and our team here in Oxford who are publishing fascinating research and developing new materials for their courses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7387b849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/2026-annual-report-toc\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"105\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2026\/11\/Read-button.png\" alt=\"Read the 2026 Department of Accountancy Annual Report\" class=\"wp-image-5208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2026\/11\/Read-button.png 400w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/files\/2026\/11\/Read-button-300x79.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few other tidbits of what\u2019s happening here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We welcomed three wonderful new faculty to our team this fall \u2013 Nathan Jenkins, Brent Schmidt, and Li Yang. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/department-of-accountancy-2026-annual-report\/meet-our-newest-accountancy-faculty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read about them in one of the articles!<\/a> We\u2019ll soon be starting a search for another new faculty member who\u2019ll join us next fall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thanks to a grant from PwC, we\u2019re piloting a new program to support students in their quest to take some parts of the CPA exam before they graduate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our placement rates for graduates are still close to 100%!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/2026\/08\/three-accountancy-students-win-pcaob-scholarship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Three students were named PCAOB Scholars this year<\/a>, with each receiving a $15,000 scholarship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The department participated in the university\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/2026\/07\/preparing-future-consultants-an-ai-enhanced-accounting-capstone-in-industry-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI in the Majors<\/a>\u201d initiative, with faculty thinking through how to incorporate the appropriate and ethical use of AI into their courses. In particular, they are emphasizing how human judgment can be used alongside \u2013 not instead of \u2013 AI, and that there is no substitute for skills like collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and professional skepticism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We hosted students from several area high schools at a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/doamu\/2026\/09\/miami-accountancy-and-oscpa-host-accounting-career-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami\/Ohio Society of CPAs Career Day<\/a>, with several Accountancy Advisory Group members, alums, and students sharing their perspectives on &#8220;why accountancy&#8221; and &#8220;why Miami accountancy.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And we know how to have fun, too! Faculty, staff and their families cheered on the Redhawks together at the Miami-Cincinnati football game at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We could not do what we do without <strong><em>you<\/em><\/strong>! <strong><em>Thank you<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>to all who supported the department during #MoveInMiami!
